Be introduced to the world of altered books in this workshop to make, fix and turn old books into creative works of art.
**What will you do?**
Jacqueline will teach you what kinds of books make the best altered books and also the best materials to use. She will teach you how to overcome some common pitfalls and the best ways to avoid them in the future. You will start by gluing your first block (as it will need time to dry). This will need weighing down whilst they dry so please bring along a heavy book or two if you can.
Jacqueline will take you through some techniques such as cutting niches and creating pockets for your own books. She will supply what is called a “practice block”, which is a book she has glued previously. You can use this practice block to try out the cutting techniques and familiarise yourself with working with crafting knives, which can be quite a tricky thing. This is where our notion of ‘practice makes perfect’ really kicks in, but don’t worry, you won’t need much practising with Jacqueline teaching you!
