Painted Wolf pop up restaurant with winemaker-chef Jeremy Borg, Monday 7th October, 7:30pm
The pop up will see Borg revisit his chef days as he steps into the kitchen to craft a South African fine dining experience with courses matched to his own wines from the Painted Wolf range.
Jeremy has worked at a number of high profile restaurants before turning to winemaking, including Grouch Club, Le Metro (Capital Hotel) and a number of respected restaurants in San Francisco.
Founded by Jeremy and Emma Borg, and drawing inspiration from the African Wild Dog, the Painted Wolf pack is a community of talented individuals who bring the best available grapes, artistic and technical skills to Painted Wolf Wines. Team work and persistence drive them towards their wine and conservation goals.
Producing wines with a distinctive South African feel, they focus largely on wines crafted from Chenin Blanc and Pinotage – the two bench mark South African grape varieties, with grapes sourced from their ‘pack’ members’ vineyards, which are low yielding, mostly un-irrigated and farmed organically or with minimal non-organic inputs.
The South African inspired menu is a modern take on this exciting cuisine which will be accompanied by guided wine tastings with Jeremy throughout the evening:

Cod, smoked haddock and prawns cured with lime juice, saffron, ginger, chilli, spring onions, coriander, muscat raisins and toasted almonds and a little white muscat, served with Lekanyane 2012

Baby squid stuffed with braised oxtail on a rich red wine jus with warm butter bean salad (or a sweet potato and butternut mash), served with Cape Hunting Red 2009

Lamb Bobotie - Ramekin of lamb bobotie served with an aubergine biryani and avocado and pawpaw sambal, served with Guillermo Pinotage 2010

Old fashioned cape trifle - Fresh nectarines and peach, sherry infused sponge, cardamom custard and whipped cream, served with Black Pack Chenin Blanc 2011
